The following are the requirements for Independent Training Service’s (ITS) course(s) and, if required, examination(s):

  • At least 1.5 Mbps Internet speed for both upload and download speed.
  • Have access to an operable computer or mobile device that connects to the internet.
  • Take seven hours to read and consume the course materials, although accommodations may be provided.
  • Take no more than one continuous hour for the examination.
  • Pass the examination with only recalled memories. The applicant may not use the course content, notes, other materials, persons or other sources while taking the examination.

An applicant for an ITS education course has one year from the date of registration to complete the requirements for the course. The course requirements are: the applicant must consume the course material, pass the examination, print and submit their provided education certificate to the correct state agency, as required. If 12 months have passed from the date of registration and the applicant has not completed the requirements for completing an ITS course, then the applicant must re-register and purchase the course again.

When an applicant takes the written examination after consuming the course material and fails the test three times, the student is referred to ITS and a state agency representative. Each unsuccessful applicant will be assessed to identify reasons for failure and to explain and address the individual solutions and/or alternative methods for completing the education/course and examination.

Applicants who have failed the examination three or more times, may retake the course and examination with accommodations as determined by ITS and the state agency representative.
